Aimi Yoshikawa
Learning to play Hazuki Luna
Yoshikawa’s interview about Ikenai! Luna-sensei offers a close look at one early acting assignment. She discussed understanding unfamiliar lines, adjusting her delivery and learning from people on set.
Understanding the words
Some of the script used expressions and specialised terms that were unfamiliar to her. Learning the lines was therefore only part of the preparation.
She felt she needed to understand what she was saying before she could perform it. That concern gave the assignment a practical focus: making the dialogue her own without losing its meaning.
Changing the delivery
Yoshikawa described her usual manner of speaking as forceful. Luna called for a gentler approach, which she found challenging.
Rather than fully separating herself from the character, she said the result contained elements of both. Her account presents role preparation as an adjustment of familiar habits.
Learning with other performers
She took guidance from the director and from co-star Taiga Fukasawa. The set became a place to learn by listening and putting suggestions into practice.
At the release event, she remained candid about being inexperienced. She wanted to build on the assignment and become a stronger actor over time.
